Book Review: Pretty Girls

pretty girls

It took me a while to decide on whether or not I’d write about this book.  I decided to do so because it is incredibly well-written and a true “edge of your seat” thriller.  But I also have to warn anyone thinking of reading this book that it’s DISTURBING.  Going into it, I did not understand the detail this book would go in to in order to describe the “crime” the book centers on.  You will NOT be able to sleep at night for a few days.  This book WILL constantly be on your mind.  And PLEASE, read it with a friend so you can discuss it with someone and let out your feelings instead of bottling them up.  Thankfully, I happened to be reading this book at the same time as my friend Sarah…because if I had nobody to talk about the book with, it would’ve haunted me to my core.  Which it still sort of does.  Anyways, here we go…

Set in suburban Georgia, two sisters have lost their sister Julia to a kidnapping…20 years ago.  All clues surrounding Julia’s disappearance become dead ends and as time goes on, her case grows colder and their family breaks apart.  Their parents divorce and Claire and Lydia become estranged, leading two drastically separate lives.  Claire marries a wealthy architect and Lydia raises a daughter as a single mom.  However, when a local girl goes missing and Claire’s husband is murdered, the two sisters must band together to find out what happened to their sister, the missing girl and solve Claire’s husband’s murder.  Armed with only the memory of their sister and the motivation to unveil the truth, the sisters set out on a journey full of heartbreak, danger and (of course) revenge.

You can purchase the book here…

…or feel free to shoot me a message and you can borrow my copy!

And if you decide to read it, please let me know what you think.  I’m so curious to see if anyone else got the same reaction out of it as I did!

xoxo Kasia
